Hey guys! I’m Priya Patel and I am currently a senior computer science major, who also loves coffee and k-dramas.

What did you do this past week?

This past week I did not make that much progress with my SWE part. My team got together and discussed issues and what we needed to get done. I am part of the backend team and I worked on researching ways to add searching and filtering to our database but have not implemented anything yet.

What’s in your way?

I had been having interviews with companies last week and also have some this upcoming week so prepping for them as been distracting me from working on the project. Also last week, my internship with Target was very busy and I had deadlines I needed to reach so I spent a lot of time doing that work.

What will you do next week?

The beginning of this week I am mainly going to be working on the SWE project since it due on Wednesday, a lot less time than we have had before to work on it. I have a 3 part interview on Thursday so I will also be prepping my technical skills. I also need to start working on two final projects for my others classes.

If you read it, what did you think of The Interface Segregation Principle?

The reading was very informative but I am not sure if I could still implement a good interface system on my own. I should spend time working on interfaces and understanding them better. With a thoroughly thought out interface system, the coding process could be a lot more simplified and error proof.

What was your experience of instance methods, class methods, static methods, regular expressions, and relational algebra? (this question will vary, week to week)

This week’s lessons were really interesting to me because I assumed I would know a lot about instance methods, class methods, static methods and expressions but the concepts that Professor Downing showed where things I had not explored as much. I will have to review the lessons because the operations have such specific details to them.

What made you happy this week?

This past weekend, I got to spend time with my friends that I have not seen in a while because we all got tested and it was extremely nice. Life and college is so weird right now and having some normal moments keeps me sane.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is when it comes to interviews make sure you thoroughly read the company you are applying to. Understand the role you are applying for, what the company does, their values and why you can fit into it. The company wants to know why you like and value them and it really helps out in interviews.

Thanks for reading! Hope life is treating you well.
